Monika Fauci -
I ordered Park Bench Sealer and Semco Sealer--in two different color finishes--so that I could restore a HUGE, 6-foot table, fourteen chairs, two benches, two coffee tables, four arm chairs and three chaise loungers that had been left to gray and mildew. I used Park Bench Sealer for the big table and fourteen dining chairs. I was absolutely shocked at the fihish this product achieves. The final coat, when dry, has an almost baked, phenolyc feel and look to it, something similar to polyurethane for the outdoors. As luck would have it, it rained for three days after I applied the final coat and I gloated over the beads of water that rolled off the table top. The gallon was enough to finish the table, the fourteen chairs and the three lounges. The Semco? Hmm, not so crazy about it now--and I've been using it for six years. The pigment in Park Bench Sealer gave the teak a nice honey tone glow, with the endurance of plasic. I highly encourage everyone out there to use this product. After the tedious stripping, cleaning and sanding, it just isn't worth taking a chance with a cheaper product; I know because I used Golden Care Sealer prior to this and "sealer" it aint! It's water-based something with a bit of color in it. Provides no protection against the elements whatsoever. I had to sand it out as it was impossible to get it out with a teak cleaner. Now I'm going to order another gallon of Park Bench Sealer for the remainder of the furniture that needs TLC to bring it back to its former, honey-colored, glory. Note to all do-it-yourselfers: this is a slow process but, once done, occasional maintenance with Park Bench Sealer is all that's required.
